CEO Update - Sept 2013

SHPE’s Five-Year Strategic Plan includes expanding the number of chapters implement­ing our highly successful Noches de Ciencias program. Today, thanks to NAVSEA fund­ing, SHPE has chapters that implement hands-on activities for kids and parents and conducts STEM education and outreach nationally. SHPE’s Parent STEM Tool Kits provide resources to parents to help them encourage their children to pursue STEM careers; SHPE provides support to parents in filling out college grant applications and guides parents with a road map to help their children follow a path to college. Letter from the CEO

This is an exciting time for Latinas in the United States. Latinas represent 60 percent of Latinos in higher education, and we're making tremendous strides in the health care and technology fields. Take for example Dr. Ellen Ochoa who is leading innovation at NASA or our own Diana Gomez, SHPE Foundation President, who was recently promoted to Deputy District Director of Operations, becoming the highest-ranking Latina engineer at Caltrans. I am also proud to be a female chief executive officer heading the largest Hispanic STEM organization in the nation. Read More
