Academic Excellence and Leadership Award
ELIGIBILITY
- Hispanic descent
- Rising Senior (i.e. High school junior entering their senior year 2013)
- Attend an accredited high school in the United States or Puerto Rico
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Have demonstrated leadership within or outside of school
- Have demonstrated active service within the Hispanic community
- Accepted into an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico in fall 2014
- Attend the Pre-College Symposium at the 2013 SHPE Foundation Conference at Indianapolis, ON November 1st 2013

High school rising seniors must be nominated by their teacher, advisor, coach or school counselor. Nominations include

Complete nominations must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) BY August 15th 2013.
AWARD NOTIFICATION
Students will be notified of their selection by September 2013 of their senior year. Students who receive this award are REQUIRED to attend the Pre-College Symposium at the SHPE Conference at Indianapolis, IN November 1st 2013. Registration will be provided by SHPE Foundation.
Award recipients will receive the scholarship upon successfully enrolling in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico, in fall 2014.
