Scholar-Internships
The SHPE Foundation currently manages three highly competitive scholar-internship programs. These programs offer both a summer internship at a research facility AND a scholarship for the fall and spring semesters. These opportunities are designed to enhance and achieve the potential of Latino students, who demonstrate both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Current Scholar-Internship Programs
- CDM - Provides undergraduate students and first-year graduate students an opportunitiy to intern at a CDM facility across the United States. Award includes $6K scholarship, $5K internship, and travel.
- Freeport-McMoran Copper and Gold - Provides undegraduate students an opportunity to intern at the FMCG mining facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Award includes $6K scholarship, $5K internship, and travel.
Eligibility
Eligibility requirements differ for each scholar-internship. However, all scholar-internships require a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application and throughout the scholarship period, and students must be registered full time (12 hrs undergraduate / 9 hrs graduate) in a science, technology, engineering, or math discipline. Deadline
All application materials for all the scholar-internships must be postmarked by February 1. No materials will be accepted by fax or email.
