"The Growing (and Critical) Contributions of Community Colleges in the Education of Hispanic Engineers"
Thursday from 12:20 to 2:00 PM

With continued increases in the cost of higher education, community colleges will have a greater role in the education of undergraduates. It is critical that definite connections be made between community colleges and 4-year institutions in order to smoothly transition students between one institution and another. Community colleges, in particular, have an enormeous role to play in the education of Hispanic students, as enrollments for this demographic have been historically high and will continue to increase in the next few years. This talk will analyze trends in community college enrollment of Hispanics, will describe successes in the transfer process for students, and will present opportunities that can be explored to enhance connections between faculty in community colleges and 4-year institutions.
