Teacher Program
The SHPE Foundation Teacher Program is a two-day program for middle school and high school science and math teachers, who teach in high Hispanic-populated schools. This exciting event intends to provide teachers with the resources and strategies needed to connect Hispanic students to science and mathematics curriculum in culturally competent and innovative techniques. Workshops regarding "Green" topics will also be given.
Approximately 50 teachers are expected to attend this program. Hands-on workshops and supplementary educational materials have been presented in the past by WGBH-Design Squad, Arizona State University - Mars Education Project, Microchip, Inc. and the University of North Texas Chemistry Department. The materials presented reflect national teaching standards in math and science. The Program provides teachers the opportunity to receive professional development credits. (Please check with your school district policies in regard to receiving credits).
DATE & LOCATION
The Teacher Program will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 27-28, in Anaheim, CA at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel. Anaheim is the second largest city in Orange County and is the center of Orange County's visitor industry, which attracts nearly 45 million people annually.

There is NO on-site registration. Space is limited to 100 teachers in this program. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first serve basis. Full participation is required each day to receive professional development credit.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Applications must be RECEIVED BY September 30, 2011.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
An oppportunity for teachers to receive continuing education credits based on national math and science standards will be made available to attendees.
HOTEL & TRAVEL
No travel arrangements will be provided for the Teacher Program. In addition, hotel accommodations will not be available. Participants must arrange their own travel and hotel as needed.
