The SHPE Foundation celebrated its twenty-five years of incorporation ( by hosting the VIP Reception at the SHPE National Technical and Career Conference in Fresno, California. Held on Friday, February 23 prior to the Gala Banquet, approximately 150 corporate representatives, conference awardees and members of the board of directors of both the SHPE Foundation and SHPE, Inc. attended this festive event sponsored by Kraft Foods.

Among the guests, twenty-five past scholarship recipients were invited as honorees. Speaking on behalf of these recipients was Ofelia Rubio (1990-91 recipient) currently employed by the Environmental Engineering Division of the City of Los Angeles and Gus Barajas (1991-92 and 1992-93 recipient), a Senior Industrial Engineer with the Intel Corporation.

Also speaking to the importance of an educational grant and support was D'Andra Buchanan, a student at California State University, Fresno and a participant in the SHPE Foundation NASA/HONORES Program
