Cisco Diversity Scholarship
Entries must be received by Cisco no later than September 15, 2012.
PURPOSE
- To promote Cisco’s commitment to global diversity programs
- To create national exposure of Cisco to potential recruits
- To encourage and reward academic excellence
- To provide a financial support mechanism for domestic STEM college students
- To encourage academic excellence and leadership development among Hispanic and Latino/a college students in STEM disciplines.
ELIGIBILITY
- Students must be currently enrolled full-time in an eligible undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors or related fields. Qualifying STEM Majors include: electrical, computer, or systems engineering; computer science; computer information systems; technology management; management information systems; physics; or mathematics.
- Must legally authorized to work in the U.S. not needing sponsorship now or in the future (US Citizen or Permanent Resident).
- Classification: Rising Sophomores and Juniors (2014 or 2015 graduates) for undergraduate degree program, rising 1st years (2014 graduates) for graduate degree program
- Shows strong potential for and commitment to a career in technology
- Demonstrates leadership and community involvement
- Active participation in their organization’s activities
- Must be an active SHPE member
- Interest in an internship with Cisco.

SELECTION
Eligible entries will first be judged by the Cisco University Connection Review Committee. The Top 10 finalists from the first level of review will then be judged by the Executive Review Committee, where a final winner will be selected. Essays will be judged based on depth of knowledge and awareness of the issue and/or challenge addressed, as well as creativity, composition and originality.

Entries must be received by Cisco no later than September 15, 2012.
AWARDS
- Five (5) $3,000 awards
- Recipients will receive an interview for an internship with Cisco to take place during the summer of 2013 (generally, May – August timeframe).
